  Do your Border Collies exhibit intense and challenging reactions to various stimuli? Are their emotions sometimes overwhelming for them? If so, you might have a reactive dog, and you're not alone. 

Reactivity in Border Collies can manifest in various ways and is a common concern among pet owners.  

What is Reactivity?  

This term can mean different things to different people, and it's important to clarify.  

In our view, a "reactive Border Collie" is a dog that responds in an intense and often challenging way to various stimuli. 

These reactions are driven by emotions that might be overwhelming for them—emotions we like to call "BIG FEELINGS."

  Signs of a Reactive Border Collie May Include: 

  Excessive barking 

Pulling or lunging on the lead 

Whining 

Inability to take treats or focus 

Spinning 

Panting 

Growling towards the stimulus 

Chasing or wanting to push away the trigger 

Nipping, mouthing, or grabbing 

These behaviours are usually triggered by emotions or genetic traits that push the Border Collie to react in a way that we might consider unusual for the situation. 

It often occurs repeatedly in response to specific triggers that challenge the Border Collie's emotional state.
